Soothing the Stesses of Everyday Life
By Julie Jacobs Published: 01/28/2010
Imagine a place where fresh flowers always decorate the lobby, a courteous staff greets you, and the anticipation of a soothing massage reverberates in the air. You can stop imagining, and start enjoying—because creating just such a haven of relaxation and health is what Massage Envy in Verona is all about. The franchise, in business since 2006, was the second Massage Envy to open in New Jersey. There are now 29 statewide.
“We want you to relax as soon as you walk through our doors,” says Warren Bryson, Verona’s clinic administrator, “and to reap the health benefits of massage.”
Recent studies show that those benefits are plentiful, including stress and pain relief, improved flexibility, and lowered blood pressure. Regular massage can even help manage chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, depression and insomnia, among others.
Apart from its marvelous massages, Massage Envy offers affordable memberships. Here’s how it works: Sign up for a year at $59 monthly (with no signup fee), and enjoy an hour-long treatment each month, with additional sessions at just $49. Massages can be rolled over or combined for two-hour treats. And family members of Massage Envy members are entitled to reduced rates.
You can even take your relaxation on the road, using your credit at any of the more than 600 Massage Envy locations nationwide. With so many membership benefits, it’s no wonder, that more than 70 percent of the clientele in Verona are members, Bryson says.
Although Swedish massage is the most popular, Massage Envy in Verona provides alternative therapies including trigger-point therapy (similar to acupressure), sports massage, reflexology (in which pressure is applied to points on the foot that correspond to various parts of the body), and cranial-sacral therapy.
“People ask us for them and we’re here to facilitate that,” remarks Bryson. “Our motto is to offer it all, so you don’t have to run around seeing different massage-therapy specialists.” In fact, the experts offer a total of 620 massage modalities, meaning that if you have a particular need in massage, chances are Massage Envy can help.
All therapists are registered, professionally trained, and have completed at least 600 hours of education; they have also undergone background checks. And Massage Envy is open seven days a week, with convenient, late-night hours.
“We’re here to heal people feel better about themselves,” he says, “and to minimize stress during life’s crises.”
Sounds like the perfect antidote for... everything.
